About the Course

This course prepares support workers to work in the community as direct care staff. The support worker will learn and practice how to test a clients blood sugar, treat hyper and hypoglycaemia including emergency administration of glycogen.


  • Understanding Diabetes

  • Physical and Nutritional Care of the Diabetic Client

  • Diabetes Medications

  • Diabetic Care Plans

  • Blood Glucose Monitoring and Recording

  • Diabetic First Aid

Assessment: completed during the training session. Resource materials provided.
