CHC30121 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care
Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care is the starting point for those wanting to enter the workforce in the Education industry and covers the fundamentals of childhood development and caring for children. This childhood education course is the minimum requirement to work in the early childhood education and care sector. It is a prerequisite for entry into the Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care CHC50121. For more information refer to the Course Outline.

Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care
The training builds your confidence and practical skills in providing activities and care to children, focusing on play-based learning, helping children to achieve important developmental milestones. By the end of your diploma, you will be a skilled, qualified early childhood educator with expertise in childhood development, planning for children with additional needs, networking and family partnerships. Certificate III and Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care are offered as Traineeships. You will be working full-time or part-time in a childcare facility whilst studying Certificate III or Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care.
Your day-to-day activities may include:

assisting in the preparation of materials and equipment for children's education and recreational activities

managing children's behaviour and guides children's social development
-
preparing and conducting activities for children
-
entertaining children by reading and playing games
-
supervising children in recreational activities
-
supervising the daily routine of children
-
supervising the hygiene of children.
Support Services
​Our highly skilled trainers will support you through your training. You will have a dedicated mentor you can contact for support and guidance.
The program is self paced with training being in a workplace delivery environment or other flexible learning environment.

We have identified a number of support services for students who have special needs, or require additional support and assistance to undertake or complete their learning. Please discuss any concerns you may have with your enrolment officer or trainer assessor.
The course fees are free in 2024.
Proof of eligibility must be provided at the time of enrolment.
You are eligible for a subsidised training place if you have left school, your primary place of residence is in Western Australia and you are:

an Australian citizen; or
-
a permanent visa holder or holder of visa subclass 309, 444, 785, 790, 820 or 826;

a dependent or spouse of the primary holder of a visa subclass 457; or
-
a Bridging Visa E holder (subclasses 050 and 051) and you have made a valid application for a visa of subclass 785 or 790; or
-
selected humanitarian stay/protection visa's. Contact us for details.
This is in accordance with the Department of Training and Workforce Development Vet fees and charges policy 2023.

Eligibility

Both qualifications are available as a part-time or full-time traineeship.

The Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care is also available as a school-based traineeship, which can be started in Year 10, Year 11 or Year 12. The program is usually 1 day at work and 4 days at school.

There are no formal entry requirements for the Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care, however, to study this qualification with ATC Work Smart you will need:

A good understanding of written, verbal and spoken English. Prior to enrolment Students LLN levels will be assessed to determine suitability

For entry into the Diploma in Early Childhood Education and care, you will need to have successfully completed the Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care.

Course durations are usually 18 months.
